Briefs: Marriott Napa sells for US$100M | Aman’s first conversion

Investor buys Marriott Napa Valley for US$100M: The Marriott Napa Valley Hotel & Spa in Napa, California, was sold to a San Francisco-based investor for US$100.1 million. Orlando, Florida-based Xenia Hotels & Resorts in August announced it was preparing to sell the 275-room hotel, and on October 30 said it had closed the deal. The buyer in the sale was KHP V Napa, an affiliate of KHP Capital Partners. Based in San Francisco, 5-year-old KHP has six private equity funds totaling US$1.25 billion and focused on “boutique and independent lodging,” according to the firm’s website. Those funds have made 50 investments so far, with total asset value of over US$2.5 billion.

Aman will convert property, its first: Singapore-based Aman has signed a partnership agreement with Rosa Alpina Hotel & Spa in San Cassiano, Italy. Aman’s second hotel in Italy, Rosa Alpina will follow in the footsteps of Aman Venice. Under the terms of the agreement, Aman will integrate marketing services and sales, as well as operations on the ground in an initial phase that will span the next 18 months. The long-term partnership will see Rosa Alpina become a fully branded Aman in December 2022.

Banneker hotel to open in D.C.: Memphis, Tennessee-based Kemmons Wilson Hospitality Partners will open the 144-room Kimpton Banneker Hotel in Washington, D.C., in early 2021. Valor Hospitality Partners will manage development and operations. The new hotel will be in a space undergoing a US$20 million renovation. Designed by Mason Studios, The Banneker will have artwork throughout, along with 3,800 square feet of indoor and outdoor meeting space, a French bistro, and a year-round rooftop bar and open air deck.

Golf destination gets new management: Tampa Bay, Florida-based luxury golf destination Streamsong Resort is switching hotel management companies to have all services managed under one roof. The 16,000-acre golf resort in Bowling Green, Florida, will end its agreement with Texas-based Aimbridge Hospitality and start a new agreement with KemperSports. Illinois-based KemperSports, a privately held golf course and hospitality management company, has managed the golf side of the resort’s business since 2012.
