Briefs: Marriott Courtyard in Canada; Tribute Portfolio opens in Seychelles

HOTEL EQUITIES ADDS IN CANADA: Hotel Equities has opened the Courtyard by Marriott Nanaimo, the 172-room hotel in Nanaimo in Canada’s British Columbia. Hotel Equities has collaborated with Utah-based real estate firm PEG Companies and Petroglyph Development Group to manage the new property. The hotel, located next to the Vancouver Island Conference Center, has a café, pool, and fitness center. Hotel Equities currently has a portfolio of approximately 300 properties in the U.S. and Canada.

MARRIOTT’S TRIBUTE PORTFOLIO OPENS IN THE SEYCHELLES: Tribute Portfolio, part of Marriott Bonvoy’s collection of independent hotels, has announced the opening of Iaïla, Seychelles, a Tribute Portfolio Resort. This is the brand’s first-ever property in Seychelles. Designed by MMAC Design, the resort offers 76 rooms and eight boutique suites, along with five restaurants and bars. The resort also features a water sports center, an outdoor pool, a gym, a spa, a barber shop and a children’s recreation area. The resort also offers personalized experiences. Currently, there are more than 85 Tribute Portfolio hotels open globally.

WORLDHOTELS ADDS FIVE HOTELS IN EUROPE, ASIA: WorldHotels Collection has grown its portfolio with the addition of five properties in key destinations across Europe and Asia. The recent additions include the debut of the brand in Greece, the launch of the Crafted collection in Spain, a new Elite collection hotel in Amsterdam and a new hotel in Tokyo. With these additions, WorldHotels portfolio is expected to grow by 40-50 hotels this year. The latest additions include the 27-room The Sofraga Palacio, Spain, Crafted collection; the 25-suite Luxury Suites Amsterdam, Netherlands, Elite collection; Makedonia Palace, Greece, Luxury collection; the 202-room b’mine Dusseldorf, Germany, Crafted collection; and the 160-room Villa Fontaine Premier Haneda Airport, Tokyo, Elite collection.

HYATT TO GROW INCLUSIVE COLLECTION IN THE CARIBBEAN: Hyatt Hotels Corp. has announced a multi-property collaboration with Be Live Hotels, which includes the expansion of the Sunscape Resort & Spas brand in the Caribbean. This deal will grow Hyatt’s Inclusive Collection, launched in 2021 following Hyatt’s acquisition of Apple Leisure Group, by around 2,000 rooms. Two Be Live properties in the Dominican Republic will be renovated and transformed into Sunscape-branded resorts by Spanish hospitality company Globalia. The two remodeled hotels are set to debut later this year. Chicago-based Hyatt currently has over 1,150 hotels and all-inclusive properties in 72 countries.

WHITBREAD ADDS 11 NEW, EXTENDED HOTELS: Whitbread, the U.K.-based hospitality business, has added 11 new and extended hotels to its national network during its 2022-23 financial year, which closed on March 2. The company added over 1,500 new Premier Inn and hub by Premier Inn rooms to its collection of hotels in the U.K. and Ireland. The new properties were delivered through a combination of Whitbread-led freehold developments and leasehold hotels built in partnership with Whitbread’s development partners. To further expand its footprint, Whitbread plans to add more new Premier Inn and hub-by Premier Inn properties in more than 160 destinations in the U.K. and Ireland.
