Briefs: Inside the new Waldorf Astoria | ITC sells this Hong Kong hotel

New York’s new Waldorf Astoria: The developer of the much-anticipated new condos at Manhattan’s iconic Waldorf Astoria New York hotel is unveiling the first public residential listing, a two-bedroom model unit on the 23rd floor designed and decorated by Jean-Louis Deniot. The Towers of the Waldorf Astoria will have 375 luxury condos on the upper floors of the 52-story Park Avenue building, with 375 hotel rooms on the lower 18 floors.

ITC sells Le Petit Rosedale: A compact hostelry in Hong Kong has become the latest property to change hands at a discount, with a mainland buyer picking up Le Petit Rosedale Hotel in the bustling shopping district for 34% below the seller’s earlier asking price. Hong Kong-based ITC Properties sold the 31,156 square foot hotel for HK$460 million (US$59.3 million) with the Hong Kong-listed property developer noting 2019’s social unrest and this year’s coronavirus pandemic as motivation for the asset sale in announcing the deal to the Hong Kong exchange.

Marriott’s new controller and chief accounting officer: Marriott International appointed Felitia Lee controller and chief accounting officer. Lee succeeds Bao Giang Val Bauduin, who is becoming chief financial officer for consumer operations, technology and emerging businesses. Prior to Marriott, Lee served as senior vice president and controller for Kohl’s Corp., where she led financial reporting, Sarbanes-Oxley processes, capital management, tax planning and compliance.

MCR acquires StayNTouch: New York-based MCR, the fifth-largest hotel owner-operator in the U.S., will acquire StayNTouch, a cloud-based hotel property management system and contactless solutions provider, for US$46 million. StayNTouch’s system, which vertically integrates with hotels’ technology stacks, is used in 500 hotels worldwide across more than 100,000 guestrooms.

Six Senses aims to be plastic-free by 2022: Six Senses Hotels Resorts Spas has become one of the first signatories of the Global Tourism Plastics Initiative, which means the Bangkok-based hotel company will ban all single-use plastic and unnecessary waste and be free of all plastics by 2022. According to Six Senses, this strategy is based on the life cycle assessment of plastics and understanding the impact these products have on the environment from fossil fuel extraction through to disposal.
