Briefs: Hard Rock hotel, casino in California; Trademark Collection launches in Malta

HARD ROCK HOTEL, CASINO IN CALIFORNIA: Hard Rock International and the Tejon Indian Tribe has broken ground of a hotel and casino in Mettler, Calif. on Tejon Tribal land. The Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Tejon will be spread across 700,000 square feet, of which 150,000 square feet will comprise gaming space and feature 2,500 popular slots, 48 table games and video poker. The property will include multiple dining venues, a 400-room hotel, additional fine dining, swimming pool, spa, cigar lounge and a 2,800-seat Hard Rock Live event venue. The property will showcase Hard Rock’s signature memorabilia, as seen in other Hard Rock venues. The first phase of the project is expected to be completed within 22 months, while the last phase will be completed after another 20 months and will include the completion of the entire hotel and casino. The project’s development will be managed by Southern California-based Penta Building Group.

WYNDHAM’S TRADEMARK COLLECTION LAUNCHES IN MALTA: Trademark Collection by Wyndham has ventured into Malta with the opening of a boutique hotel in St. Julian’s. The new Quadro Hotel, Trademark Collection by Wyndham is near St. George’s Bay and shops and restaurants. The hotel is owned and operated by STED Co. Quadro Hotel offers an onsite restaurant, an outdoor pool, a fitness center, a meeting room, a business center, laundry service, same-day dry cleaning and car and bicycle rental. All the rooms are 100% smoke-free, with some offering sea views. Launched in 2017, Trademark Collection has more than 200 hotels across 30 countries. In the past 18 months, the brand has added around 90 properties in 12 new countries.

TOWNEPLACE SUITES CELEBRATES 500TH HOTEL MILESTONE: TownePlace Suites by Marriott, part of the Marriott Bonvoy portfolio, has achieved a milestone of opening its 500th hotel with the opening of TownePlace Suites Richmond Colonial Heights in Virginia. The 131-room hotel offers studio and one-bedroom suites that feature fully equipped kitchens and a custom Elfa closet system. Additionally, it boasts a full-service lobby bar, an onsite laundry facility, pools and an outdoor patio area. TownePlace Suites opened its first hotel in Virginia in 1997. The brand has grown to have more than 490 properties in the U.S. and Canada.

PM HOTEL GROUP TO MANAGE EAST NASHVILLE HOTEL: PM Hotel Group has been selected to manage Waymore’s Guest House & Casual Club in Nashville. Located in East Nashville, the lifestyle hotel offers 93 pet-friendly rooms, suites and bungalows, along with an all-day café in the lobby and indoor and outdoor gathering spaces. The hotel is set to open a rooftop bar with panoramic city views and a 4,000-square-foot creative space for music, meetings and community engagement. Based in Washington, D.C., PM Hotel Group currently operates 70 properties in the U.S.

ONYX ADDS FIVE SERVICED APARTMENTS: ONYX Hospitality Group, the Thailand-based hospitality company, is expanding the reach of Shama, its serviced apartment brand, with five new properties in Asia. The five additions include two properties in China, two in Malaysia and one in Thailand. The properties are slated to open in 2024. Capitalizing on the demand for serviced apartments after the pandemic, ONYX anticipates meeting the evolving demands of bleisure travelers with the Shama brand and the new additions. Currently, ONYX operates 16 Shama locations, including six in Thailand, Hong Kong, and four in China.
