Briefs: Hotel Cleveland joins Crescent Hotels’ management portfolio; Baccarat Hotels’ debut in the U.A.E.

CRESCENT ADDS HOTEL CLEVELAND TO MANAGEMENT PORTFOLIO: Crescent Hotels & Resorts has assumed management of Hotel Cleveland, Autograph Collection. Located in downtown Cleveland, the former Renaissance Cleveland Hotel underwent a multi-year, $80-million renovation to reopen in April under its original name. With more than 100 years of history, the hotel has joined Latitudes: Lifestyles by Crescent collection. Part of Marriott’s Autograph Collection brand of independent hotels, the reimagined hotel features 491 rooms, a new lobby bar and restaurant and 60,000 square feet of meeting space.

BACCARAT TO DEBUT IN THE U.A.E.: Shamal Holding, the Dubai-based investment firm, has unveiled details of the U.A.E.’s first Baccarat Hotel. The 145-room luxury hotel is situated within a mixed-use development at Downtown Dubai. Baccarat Hotel Dubai will include multiple dining experiences, wellness spaces, a pool overlooking the Burj Khalifa and other. The upper floors of the hotel will house luxury branded residences, consisting of two- to four-bedroom furnished apartments as well as four penthouses, including a five-bedroom residence with a private gym, pool and wine cellar. Home owners will be able to access all the hotel’s amenities. The hotel is being developed in partnership with Dubai-based H&H Development as well as SH Hotels & Resorts, the company behind Baccarat Hotels & Resorts brand, which will operate the property. Studio Libeskind is in charge of the property’s architecture, with interiors by 1508 London.

PROTEA HOTELS OPENS TWO HOTELS IN AFRICA: Protea Hotels by Marriott, part of Marriott Bonvoy’s portfolio of more than 30 brands, has added two new hotels in Africa with the opening of the Protea by Marriott Delta in Nigeria and the Protea by Marriott Lusaka International Airport in Zambia. Located in Ekpan Warri’s business district, Protea Hotel by Marriott Delta is located near the region’s oil and gas hub and features 68 rooms, a restaurant, lobby and pool bar, fitness center and three conference rooms. Situated close to the Kenneth Kaunda International Airport, Protea Hotel by Marriott Lusaka International Airport, features 72 rooms along with a restaurant, an outdoor pool, a fitness center and meeting facilities. With these two additions, Protea Hotels by Marriott has over 60 properties across nine countries in Africa.

MAVERICK ADDS TO MANAGEMENT PORTFOLIO: Maverick Hotels and Restaurants will be expanding its presence in the metropolitan Chicago market with the addition of the Renaissance Chicago O’Hare Suites to its portfolio. The hotel features 362 rooms with separate living areas. Amenities include a fitness center, an indoor pool, a market-style deli, three dining venues and more than 15,000 square feet of event space.
