Briefs: Fairfield by Marriott’s European debut; Langham opens in China

FAIRFIELD BY MARRIOTT EXPANDS TO EUROPE: Fairfield by Marriott, part of Marriott Bonvoy’s portfolio of more than 30 hotel brands, has announced its European debut with the opening of Fairfield by Marriott Copenhagen Nordhavn. Located in the North Harbour district in Copenhagen, this is the first hotel to showcase Fairfield by Marriott’s European prototype created by OCCA Design Studio and will serve as a blueprint for the brand’s design in Europe. OCCA Design Studio partnered with Scandinavian-based Mette Fredskild Design and Henning Larsen Architects for the design. Fairfield by Marriott Copenhagen Nordhavn features 222 rooms, of which 20 offer sea views. The waterfront hotel includes flexible public spaces, a 24×7 market and a fitness center. With more than 1,290 open hotels and over 450 in its global pipeline, Fairfield by Marriott is the second largest brand in Marriott Bonvoy’s global portfolio. The brand is expected to open more hotels in key business and leisure destinations across Europe, including in Bordeaux, France; Erding, Germany; Yenibosna, Turkey and Warwick, the U.K. The brand will also open its inaugural property in the Middle East in 2027 with two openings in Makkah, Saudi Arabia.

LANGHAM OPENS CORDIS HOTEL IN CHINA: Langham Hospitality Group has announced the opening of a hotel under its upscale Cordis Hotels & Resorts brand. Located in Foshan in southern China, the Cordis, Foshan, Lingnan Tiandi features 390 rooms and suites with private balconies along with one- and two-bedroom serviced apartments. The hotel also offers two restaurants, a 28-meter indoor pool, jacuzzi, sauna, fitness center, a two-story club lounge, a 1,260-square-meter ballroom and eight multi-function rooms as well as a large ceremonial hall. The hotel will undergo renovations, which include enhancements to its rooms and public areas, lobby bar, lobby, VIP reception area and meeting facilities.

SIX SENSES RESIDENCES IN DUBAI: Six Senses, part of IHG Hotels & Resorts luxury and lifestyle portfolio has signed an agreement with the Dubai-based real estate developer Select Group to launch Six Senses Residences Dubai Marina. This builds on Six Senses and Select Group’s partnership, which earlier launched the Six Senses Residences The Palm, Dubai which will include Six Senses Place, the first wellness and social hub in the U.A.E. At 122 stories, the Six Senses Residences Dubai Marina is expected to be the one of the world’s tallest residential towers once its completed. The property will feature 251 residences, ranging from two- three- and four-bedroom units, four-bedroom half-floor penthouses, four-bedroom duplex sky mansions and five-bedroom triplex sky mansions. The tower will have a dedicated wellness area, spanning 61,250 square feet across four levels. The tower will include a 25-meter lap pool on the 109th floor. The property’s architecture is led by WSP Middle East. The project is expected to be completed in mid-2028.

SONESTA ESSENTIAL ADDS 2 HOTELS: Sonesta International Hotels Corp. has opened two new upper-midscale Sonesta Essential hotels in March – 57-room Sonesta Essential Morgantown in Morgantown, W. Va. and 52-room Sonesta Essential Gonzales in Gonzales, Texas. Sonesta Essential is a limited-service brand which provides only the essentials to guests – complimentary WiFi and hot breakfast, all-day coffee and a fitness center.
