Briefs: Choice’s Cambria expands; AC debuts in Greater China; and more

CAMBRIA EXPANDS IN NEW ENGLAND: Cambria Hotels, the upscale brand franchised by Choice Hotels International, has expanded in New England with the opening of the Cambria Hotel New Haven University Area, its latest hotel in New Haven, Conn. The six-story, 130-key hotel includes a full-service restaurant and bar, meeting and event spaces and a fitness center. The hotel was developed in collaboration with HighSide Development, architect and interior designer, Baskervill, and general contractor, KBE Building Corp. The hotel is owned by White Plains, N.Y.-based The LCP Group and will be managed by Fairfax, Va.-headquartered Crescent Hotels & Resorts.  

AC HOTELS BY MARRIOTT TO GREATER CHINA: AC Hotels by Marriott has debuted in Greater China with the opening of AC Hotel by Marriott Suzhou. The new hotel features 135 rooms, including five garden rooms with a private outdoor garden. The hotel includes a 50-square-meter multi-functional space for banquets and events, an all-day dining restaurant, a lounge with outdoor terrace and a 24-hour fitness center. AC Hotels by Marriott currently has 215 hotels across 30 countries.   

PATHFINDER ADDS HI EXPRESS HOUSTON: Texas-based Pathfinder Hospitality has added Holiday Inn Express & Suites Houston – Hobby Airport Area as the 16th hotel in its portfolio. The hotel has a 24-hour business center and meeting space for up to 50 persons. Pathfinder also announced the appointment of Lydia Thomas as general manager to the Houston team.  

QUALITY INN SELLS FOR $3.8M: Norland James and his wife Dr. Amina Gilyard James, with the help of a cohort of first-time African American hotel investors, have acquired the 70-room Quality Inn in Memphis, Tenn., for $3.85 million. Between 2019 and 2021, the couple invested in two Hilton-branded hotels as limited partners and passive investors.   

COURTYARD BY MARRIOTT ADDS IN INDIA: Marriott International has opened the second Courtyard by Marriott in the business hub of Navi Mumbai in Mumbai. Courtyard by Marriott Navi Mumbai marks the 25th Courtyard by Marriott-branded property in India. The 105-room hotel includes four dining venues, a fitness center, spa, pool a 3,617 square feet of event space including two multi-functional rooms.
