Briefs: Carlton and Mondrian open in Cannes; crowdfunding round for cannabis lounge in Denver

CARLTON CANNES REOPENS: IHG Hotels & Resorts has announced the opening of Carlton Cannes, A Regent Hotel, as part of its luxury and lifestyle portfolio. The opening follows a two-year renovation of the historic property, which saw the preservation of the hotel’s iconic façade, the addition of two wings (measuring 20,000 square meters and home to luxury residences), sunbathing decks, cabanas and an infinity pool. The hotel has been restored and reimagined by French interior designer Tristan Auer. The project was designed and supervised by restoration specialist and architect Richard Lavelle. Occupying an entire city block overlooking the beachfront promenade, La Croisette, the hotel features 332 rooms, 72 of which have a sea view, and 37 branded residences.

MONDRIAN LAUNCHES IN FRANCE: London-based Ennismore has launched its Mondrian brand in France with the opening of Mondrian Cannes. Located close to the steps of the Palais de Festival, the 75-room hotel sits on the site of the very first luxury hotel in Cannes, which opened in 1863. Franco-Brazilian agency Triptyque has been appointed to work on the hotel’s interiors, including the lobby, restaurant, bar and terraces. The hotel features photography by artist Mathilde de l’Écotais. The hotel has rooms facing both the town as well as the sea. The 11th floor will include a panoramic view with an outdoor terrace and a whirlpool tub, a sea-view bathroom and views of the Bay of Cannes. The hotel also features a restaurant.

CROWDFUNDING ROUND FOR CANNABIS LOUNGE: The 420 Hotels Inc. has launched an equity crowdfunding campaign, moving to the next phase of a legally licensed cannabis consumption lounge in a boutique hotel in Denver. By filing their Form C with the SEC through PE platform StartEngine, The 420 Hotels is looking for investors interested in high growth potential in vetted, early-stage ventures. According to Form C, this is the first time a licensed cannabis business has been launched on StartEngine. The 420 Hotels is developing the first location by adding a cannabis consumption lounge as an amenity to the adjacent Patterson Inn. Hotel guests and annual members will be able to access the lounge to legally smoke and vape the cannabis flower and consume infused edibles.

THE ST. JOE TO OPEN 5 NEW HOTELS: In the first half of the year, the St. Joe Company expects to complete and open five new hotels totaling 646 keys. These hotels include the 85-room The Lodge, a boutique hotel located on Florida’s Scenic Highway 30A that opened in February. In the next four months, the company plans to open the 255-suite Embassy Suites by Hilton Panama City Beach Resort; the waterfront 124-room Hotel Indigo Camp Creek City Marina; the 107-room Home2 Suites by Hilton Santa Rosa Beach; and the 75-room Camp Creek Inn overlooking Camp Creek golf course. Once opened, these five properties will more than double the number of rooms in St. Joe’s portfolio from 531 to 1,177.
