CAMBRIA DEBUTS IN GEORGIA: Cambria Hotels, part of the Choice Hotels International, Inc. group of brands, has opened its first hotel in Georgia — Cambria Hotel Savannah Downtown Historic District in Savannah. The new six-story hotel comprises 101 rooms, multi-purpose indoor and outdoor spaces (including a lobby bar), spa-style bathrooms, a fitness center, meeting and event spaces and on-site dining. The hotel was developed by HOS Management Group and is managed by Peachtree Hotel Group. Currently, there are more than 65 Cambria hotels open in the U.S. and over 70 in the pipeline.
JW MARRIOTT OPENS IN MASAI MARA: JW Marriott has marked its entry into the luxury safari segment with the opening of JW Marriott Masai Mara Lodge in Kenya’s Masai Mara National Reserve. The property comprises 20 private tents, terraces overlooking River Talek, an adventure lounge, a cultural deck, a spa and three dining venues. The tented honeymoon suite consists of a private plunge pool. The lodge’s interiors have been designed by Kristina Zanic Consultants.
MINOR HOTELS ADDS IN BRAZIL: Minor Hotels has unveiled the newly-built NH Feira de Santana in Brazil. Set to open in May, the hotel will be the first NH Hotel in the Northeast and the second in the country. The 210-room hotel is located within the Charmant building in Feira de Santana, a 31-story mixed-use project. The hotel offers rooms and apartments, including disabled access suites, meeting areas, a gym, a children’s area, a rooftop pool, a dry sauna and a whirlpool. The hotel will also include SEEN by Olivier, a restaurant and bar on the top floor. Minor Hotels presently has four properties in Brazil and a total of 61 properties in Latin America through its Tivoli Hotels & Resorts and NH Hotels brands. The company has a resort under development in Bahia under its Anantara brand, scheduled to open in 2025.
DOUBLETREE BY HILTON IN AUSTRIA: Primestar Group, the hotel operating company, has debuted in Austria with the opening of DoubleTree by Hilton Vienna Schönbrunn. The hotel underwent extensive renovations to open under the DoubleTree brand. The hotel features 247 rooms, including 24 suites with castle views, a conference area with eight conference rooms for up to 600 persons, a restaurant, a fitness center and underground parking. Following a franchise agreement between Primestar and Hilton, Primestar operates five Hampton by Hilton properties in Germany. Hampton by Hilton in Vienna City West is under construction and scheduled to open in the second half of 2024.
SCPEXPANDS PORTFOLIO: Soul Community Planet (SCP), the holistic hospitality company, has acquired the Alboin River Inn, a luxury boutique hotel in Mendocino County on the Northern California coast. This latest addition brings the company’s total portfolio to 10 properties. The 22-room property will be renamed the SCP Mendocino Coast Lodge and become the brand’s fourth coastal California property. The property will be operated alongside the nearby SCP Mendocino Inn & Farm, which SCP purchased in June 2022. SCP Mendocino Coast Lodge will undergo renovations to open as an upscale lodge featuring a farm-to-table restaurant, a provisions market, EV charging stations and water-conserving fixtures and solar. Owned by Flurry Healy and Peter Wells, the lodge will be a participant in SCP’s Every Stay Does Good program.
