Briefs: Cambria grows presence in Austin; Four Points to Trinidad and Tobago

Cambria Hotels grows its footprint in Austin: Cambria Hotels, an upscale brand franchised by Choice Hotels International, Inc., has opened the Cambria Hotel Austin Uptown Near the Domain in Austin, Texas. The luxury hotel with 135 rooms is the second of three Cambria properties set to open in the city. The newly opened hotel will join the Cambria Hotel Austin Airport and the upcoming Cambria Hotel Austin Downtown. The hotel has multi-purpose indoor and outdoor spaces, a spa, a restaurant and bar, a fitness center, and event spaces totaling more than 5,500 square feet. MoPac Hotel Development designed the hotel. There are currently 65 Cambria hotels open in the United States.

Four Points groundbreaking in Trinidad: Construction has started for a new Four Points by Sheraton hotel and conference center at the International Airport Estates at the Piarco International Airport in Trinidad and Tobago. Prestige Hotels Ltd. is the hotel’s owner and asset manager. This will be the first hotel to operate within the grounds of one of Trinidad and Tobago’s two main airports. Located 800 feet from the terminal, the 154-room, four-story, $25 million hotel will be the anchor tenant and first component to operate within the new International Airport Estates. The hotel is scheduled to open in 2025. 

U.S. performance update: Hotel performance in the U.S. was slightly lower than last week, with the Martin Luther King Jr. Holiday, as per STR’s data through Jan. 21.  

  • Occupancy: 54.2% (-6.2%) 
  • ADR: $140.16 (+11.3%) 
  • RevPAR: $75.97 (+4.4%)  

Among the top 25 markets, Tampa witnessed the highest increase over 2019 in all three key performance metrics: occupancy (+6.8% to 78.8%), ADR (+31.9% to $174.78) and RevPAR (+41% to $137.76). No other top 25 markets saw an occupancy rise over 2019. The steepest RevPAR declines were recorded in San Francisco (-41.5% to $108.60) and Seattle (-29.2% to $67.42). 

MGM, NFLPA partner: MGM Resorts International has entered into a multi-year agreement to become the hospitality and strategic partner of the National Football League Players Association (NFLPA). The two parties will create fresh content and fan experiences with active and retired NFL players. The partnership also extends hospitality benefits to NFL players with MGM Resorts’ properties hosting NFL player-related events. The two partners will create opportunities for guests to engage with players and NFL alumni during the football season at Mandalay Bay’s Fan District in Las Vegas. Current NFL players and NFL alumni can enter into individual ambassador agreements to promote MGM Resorts.  

IHCL adds in India: Mumbai-based Indian Hotels Co. Ltd. (IHCL) has signed its first property under the Vivanta brand in Indore, Madhya Pradesh. The greenfield project will open in 2026. IHCL has partnered with Evitamin Business Consulting for the 115-key hotel. The hotel will have an all-day dining option, a bar, a pool, a fitness center, and a spa, as well as over 550 square meters of banquet space. With the addition of this hotel, IHCL will have eight hotels in Madhya Pradesh.
