Apple buys dual-branded hotel for US$65M: Richmond, Virginia-based Apple Hospitality REIT acquired a turnkey, dual-branded hotel on Arizona State University’s campus in Tempe, Arizona. Mortenson Construction developed the 105-key Hyatt House and the 154-key Hyatt Place and sold the properties for US$64.6 million. The shared services property also has a lobby, dining space and elevator bank that can be used by either hotel brand.
Hatten Land proposes IP rights to Tayrona for US$60M: Singapore-based Hatten Land has proposed to assign its intellectual property rights in the Harbour City integrated development in Malacca, Malaysia, to Tayrona Capital (also based in Singapore) for US$60 million. The property rights include project design and concept, domain names, as well as website and marketing materials. Hatten Land was the concept originator and project developer of Harbour City, a marine-themed mixed-use development featuring a mall, a 50,000 square-foot water theme park and a luxury hotel.

Six Senses aims to be plastic free by 2022: Bangkok-based Six Senses Hotels Resorts Spas has become one of the first signatories of the Global Tourism Plastics Initiative, led by the UN Environment Program and UN World Tourism Organization, in collaboration with the Ellen MacArthur Foundation. That includes the following goals:
- Eliminating all plastics from its operations by 2022, with priority on single-use plastics and going beyond that to remove 100% virgin plastic sourcing
- Zero waste to landfills as a general goal for all Six Senses resorts
- Continuing its policy of no single-use shampoo and amenity bottles, plastic water bottles and plastic straws
