Briefs: Aman expands in Asia; IHG signs sixth Vignette Collection

AMAN GROWS ASIA PORTFOLIO: Aman is set to open a new hotel and branded residences, Aman Nai Lert Bangkok, in Q3 2024. Located in Bangkok’s eight-acre Nai Lert Park gardens, the property features a 52-suite Aman hotel with a wellness center, multiple dining concepts and 39 Aman-branded residences between floors 11 and 36. Designed by Jean-Michel Gathy of Denniston, the property’s design is inspired by the Nai Lert Park Heritage Home and the city of Bangkok. The hotel marks Aman’s third global city destination (following openings of Aman New York in 2022 and Aman Tokyo in 2014) and the 25th hotel in Asia. Aman’s global portfolio currently comprises 35 hotels, resorts and residences in 20 destinations, with a pipeline of additional projects.

IHG SIGNS SIXTH VIGNETTE COLLECTION HOTEL: IHG Hotels & Resorts has signed its sixth Vignette Collection hotel in Thailand. The beachfront property along Nai Yang Beach will become a part of IHG’s Luxury & Lifestyle portfolio. Scheduled to open in 2028, Phuket Nai Yang Beach, Vignette Collection will be the third Vignette Collection property with IHG’s partner Dinso Resort Co. Ltd. The hotel will be located on the southern tip of Nai Yang Beach and feature 115 rooms, including eight suites, with views of the Andaman Sea and nearby wildlife parks. The resort will also offer four restaurants, a rooftop bar, a fitness center, a spa, a pool and over 480 square meters of meeting and event space. Currently, IHG has eight open properties under six brands and five more in the pipeline in Phuket. The Vignette Collection has 19 hotels in the pipeline and aims to grow to 100 hotels within 10 years.

U.S. PERFORMANCE DECLINES: Hotel performance in the U.S. fell from last week, while YOY comparisons were mixed, according to CoStar’s data through January 20.

  • ADR: $142.27 (+1.6%)
  • RevPAR: $74.31 (-2.2%)

Among the top 25 markets, Seattle posted the highest YOY occupancy lift (+9.6% to 54.1%). Atlanta witnessed the highest increases in ADR (+14.3% to $131.74) and RevPAR (+18.5% to $81.76). The steepest RevPAR declines were recorded in Las Vegas (-19.2% to $108.97) and Nashville (-15.2% to $68.59).

SURESTAY DEBUTS IN ALABAMA: SureStay by Best Western Huntsville University Area has opened in Huntsville, Ala. Located at University Drive NW, the hotel offers 57 rooms with televisions, microwaves and mini-fridges. The hotel is SureStay’s debut property in Alabama. The hotel is a short drive from popular attractions such as the NASA Space and Rocket Center, Huntsville Botanical Garden and Toyota Field.

SONESTA ES SUITES’ GROUND-UP PROJECT: Sonesta International Hotels Corp. has announced plans for a new Sonesta ES Suites in Port Charlotte, Fla. When it opens in spring 2025, the hotel will be the inaugural Sonesta ES Suites-branded property developed from the ground up. The hotel will be managed by Commonwealth Hotels. The upscale, extended-stay hotel will span four floors and feature 117 rooms with amenities such as breakfast and dining services, an outdoor swimming pool, fitness center, guest laundry, market pantry and onsite parking. The hotel will be close to more than 20 colleges and universities, two hospitals, over 70 parks, more than 12 miles of beaches and 14 golf courses. Currently, Sonesta has 1,200 properties under 17 brands totaling 100,000 rooms across eight countries.
