Boston Market restaurant chain sold to investor

Boston Market announced it has been acquired by Engage Brands LLC, a unit of the Rohan Group owned by real estate investor and restaurant operator Jignesh (Jay) Pandya of Bucks County, Pa.

Engage Brands purchased the brand from affiliates of Sun Capital Partners Inc. Terms of the transaction were not disclosed. The Rohan Group’s interests include multiple franchised restaurant concepts.

“Engage Brands brings an enthusiastic, experienced, and successful ownership group to Boston Market, as well as access to resources that we need to continue to operate our business in this challenging environment. With the strategic and financial backing Jay and his team bring, we will continue to focus on key operational initiatives to improve guest experience, menu development, and focus on the growth of our brand,” Boston Market Chief Executive Eric Wyatt said in a press release.

Wyatt, formerly Boston Market’s chief operating officer, was named CEO in February, replacing Frances Allen.

The Golden, Colo.-based chain last year shuttered 45 struggling stores, about 10% of its 435 outlets.
