Billionaire Malone buys another asset in Ireland

U.S. billionaire John Malone, alongside his JMP partners Paul Higgins and Lalco, has agreed to purchase the InterContinental Hotel in Ballsbridge, Dublin (formerly the Four Seasons Hotel until this past January) from London and Regional Property for an undisclosed sum.

The partnership and IHG will invest more than €5 million (US$5.3 million) “to further enhance the experience of visitors to Dublin’s premier 5-star hotel,” according to a statement released Wednesday.

Malone already owns the Westin, the Trinity City Hotel, The Hilton Dublin and the Limerick Strand Hotel — all in Ireland.

The InterContinental features 197 guestrooms including 58 suites, an indoor swimming pool, a spa and fitness center, two restaurants, two bars, meeting rooms and a 15,000-square-foot (1,394-square-meter) ballroom.
