THE WOODLANDS, TEXAS Benchmark Hospitality International has acquired MTM Luxury Lodging, bringing four managed properties into Benchmark’s portfolio, plus an additional property slated to begin construction soon.
These five hotels will join eight other properties operated by Benchmark to form a new brand, to be called Personal Luxury Collection.
MTM’s portfolio is comprised of Hotel 1000 in Seattle, Sorrento Hotel in Seattle, Willows Lodge in Woodinville, Washington, and Bardessono Hotel & Spa in Napa Valley, California. The new Bellevue Park Hotel, Washington, is expected to open in 2013.
“MTM has done an incredible job creating a group of high-end and highly customer-focused properties,” says Benchmark Chairman and CEO Burt Cabañas. “They bring five superb small luxury hotels in terrific destinations to our company, as well as the opportunity to penetrate the Northwest. With this addition, it is the ideal time to launch our Personal Luxury Collection of 13 highly distinctive independent hotels.”
Several members of MTM’s executive team will join Benchmark. MTM CEO James Simkins has been appointed chief operating officer of Personal Luxury Collection, while MTM founder Jim Treadway joins Benchmark as general manager of Bardessono and as vice chairman of Benchmark’s advisory board.
The Personal Luxury Collection brand aims to offer a highly personalized luxury experience for every guest. “Luxury is so much more than bricks and mortar and the best china and silver,” Cabañas says. “It’s what makes each guest feel expected and genuinely welcomed over and over again.”
In addition to the five MTM properties, Personal Luxury Collection will be composed of:
- Costa d’Este Beach Resort, Vero Beach, Florida
- Hotel 718, Brooklyn (opening November 2011)
- Hotel Granduca, Houston
- Marenas Beach Resort, Sunny Isles Beach, Florida
- Naples Bay Resort, Naples, Florida
- Sorrell River Ranch, Moab, Utah
