Villa San Michele, A Belmond Hotel, Florence, reopened on April 28, 2026, following an 18-month renovation. The property, located in the Fiesole hills overlooking Florence, was originally a Renaissance convent and has reopened with updated rooms, suites, gardens, dining spaces and wellness programming.
The hotel introduces 39 redesigned rooms and suites along with a spa by Guerlain, restored gardens and new gastronomic offerings. The property also launches curated experiences developed with La DoubleJ focused on wellbeing and mindfulness.
The renovation includes 27 suites and 12 rooms designed by Luigi Fragola Architects. Interiors feature antiques, bespoke furnishings and restored architectural elements, including stone fireplaces and frescoed walls. Materials used include Impruneta terracotta and Cipollino marble from Carrara.
“In keeping with its history as a former convent, Villa San Michele, always a place of beauty, is also a sanctuary devoted to the replenishment of all the senses,” said Sofia Peluso, general manager. “Thoughtfully reimagined spaces, both inside and out, pay homage to nature, art and creativity. Here, the body is rested, the mind inspired and the soul soothed.”
The Villa San Michele Spa by Guerlain is located within the former convent and includes three treatment rooms. Offerings include treatments such as Floral Delight in Tuscany, The Art of Renaissance and Iris di Grazia.
The gardens span more than 10,000 square meters and include terraced landscaping, citrus trees, herb gardens and new walking paths. Programming includes music performances and workshops.
The Energy Raising Program with La DoubleJ introduces the Energy Chapel, Sungazing Lounge and Yoga Deck within the woodland setting. Activities include yoga, sound healing and seasonal retreats.
“Our concept is born from listening to time and nature. There is a moment when every ingredient reaches its maximum expression,” said Alessandro Cozzolino, executive chef of Antesi restaurant. “Our job is to recognize and respect it, creating dishes that listen rather than command, accompanying diners on an experience that becomes a memory.”
Villa San Michele operates seasonally from spring through winter.
