Atlantic City Golden Nugget conversion to include US$100m renovation

ATLANTIC CITY Landry’s Restaurants Inc. will spend about US$100 million to convert the former Trump Marina Hotel Casino into Golden Nugget Atlantic City, CEO Tilman Feritta says.

The renovation will be staggered over the course of this year, Fertitta tells Houston Chronicle. Houston-based Landry’s took control of the 728-key Trump Marina earlier this week, having acquired it from Trump Entertainment Resorts for US$38 million, or US$52,000 per key.

Along with Chart House, Golden Nugget Atlantic City will feature a Vic & Anthony’s Steakhouse and Grotto, as well as Red Sushi and Lillie’s Asian Cuisine and Noodle Bar. The hotel and casino will also get a new luxury spa and salon and an H20 pool and lounge with hot tubs and fire pits.

Landry’s also owns and operates Golden Nugget properties in Las Vegas and Laughlin, Nevada. Fertitta says both Nevada properties have recovered business somewhat this year. “We think the economy is back,” he says.
