Aman’s first destination in the Maldives now has a name: Amanolu. Combining Aman, the Sanskrit word for peace, with Olu, inspired by the water lily, the name reflects a symbol long associated with serenity, renewal and a connection to nature. Found throughout the Indian Ocean region, the water lily rises from still waters, serving as an expression of the destination’s island setting and Aman’s ethos of peace, privacy and harmony with the natural world.
Designed by longtime Aman collaborator Kerry Hill Architects, Amanolu draws inspiration from the white coralline beaches, turquoise lagoons and island setting of the Maldives. Set to open in 2028, the 52-key resort and a limited collection of 16 branded residences will introduce the Aman lifestyle to the destination for the first time. The architecture draws the surrounding landscape into everyday life, blurring the boundaries between indoors and out.
Each Aman Residence occupies its own island within Amanolu, with some oriented toward a single shoreline embracing either sunrise or sunset views. Others extend from coast to coast, with beaches on both sides of the island and views from dawn to dusk.
Every island home features five bedrooms and is conceived as a retreat immersed in sea, sky and nature. Indoor and outdoor living spaces unfold onto private beaches, while an 82-foot swimming pool and personal berth provide the foundation for island living. Each residence offers privacy while remaining connected to the wider Amanolu experience. Dedicated staff accommodation at every home supports service, discretion, care and personalized attention.
Complementing the residential offering, Amanolu will provide amenities available to Residence Owners and hotel guests, including a dedicated wellness island with an Aman Spa and the brand’s Spa Houses, and an activity island designed for recreation and exploration. Opportunities for diving, snorkeling, watersports and marine exploration are woven into daily life. Dining venues, including Aman’s global culinary concepts, family facilities and gathering spaces round out the offering.
