Aloft expands Smart Check-In program to five more hotels

WHITE PLAINS, NEW YORK The automated check-in program from Aloft Hotels that lets guests bypass the front desk and use their SPG cards as room keys is being expanded to five more hotels.

Aloft’s Smart Check-In, which made its debut last year at Aloft Lexington, Massachusetts, is going live at Alofts in Harlem, Brooklyn, Dallas, London and Jacksonville, Florida, by the end of this year.

Smart Check-In invites SPG members to request enhanced SPG loyalty cards with RFID encryption. On the day of a planned stay, a text message is sent to the guest’s mobile device with the guestroom number. Once at the hotel, guests can skip the check-in line and go straight to their room, where the SPG card will unlock the door.

“Aloft guests never settle for a traditional hotel experience, and they’ve embraced the Smart Check-In revolution with tremendous enthusiasm,” says Brian McGuinness, senior vice president of specialty select brands for Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide. “For our associates, freedom from traditional check-in procedures means they can spend more time engaging with guests and enhancing the social atmosphere that’s made Aloft such a huge hit.”
