45-story Delta hotel announced for downtown Toronto

TORONTO Standing at 45 stories and connected to the two office towers of Southcore Financial Center, the new 566-key Delta Toronto will be a showpiece within the downtown SFC mixed-used development complex.

The 4-star Delta Toronto, designed by Page + Steele and IBI Architects, will offer oversized guestrooms and 24 extended-stay suites. It is slated to open in 2014.

“The Delta Toronto will give travelers what we know they want from a city hotel—quick access to business and entertainment districts, convenient connections with transportation hubs and a living environment that caters to their every need,” says Hank Stackhouse, president and CEO of Delta Hotels and Resorts. “This will be a perfect hotel choice for convenience, connectivity and outstanding service for which Delta is known, whether you’re staying in Toronto on business or just for a weekend of fun.”

British Columbia Investment Management Corp. last week unveiled plans for Southcore Financial Centre, to encompass a full block in the southern part of the downtown core of Canada’s largest city. SFC will feature three distinct towers, including 18 York and the soon-to-be-constructed 30-story Bremner Tower, along with Delta Toronto. The project will be developed by GWL Realty Advisors Inc., with the ground breaking scheduled for later this year.
