Design Hotels has added another “Sir” to their collection with the opening of the Sir Nikolai in Hamburg.
Sandwiched between the Altstadt (Old Town) and the ultra-modern HafenCity district, the 94-room luxury boutique hotel was converted from a former warehouse.
Behind the conversion is Amsterdam-based design agency FG Stijl. Design elements throughout include curated art, vintage rugs, and polished marble throughout.
Each guest room is outfitted with custom-made furniture and lighting, while vintage carpets, contemporary artworks, with a curated selection of design books and novels. Marble bathrooms have oversized rainfall showers and signature spa body amenities.
The hotel’s glass-covered courtyard, The Patio, has a fluid interior/exterior setup with a fully retractable ceiling. Two canal-side terraces also line the hotel’s exterior.
The hotel’s restaurant, Izakaya Asian kitchen & bar, offers Japanese-Peruvian dining, and, later this year, a subterranean spa will open, with a pool and sauna overlooking the canal, as well as three treatment rooms, a steam room, and a gym.
Following the opening of Sir Nikolai, Sir Hotels will open Sir Joan in Ibiza in July.
