Briefs: Cambria opens second hotel in Orlando; IHG grows Japanese portfolio

CAMBRIA’S SECOND HOTEL IN ORLANDO: Cambria Hotels, part of Choice Hotels International, Inc. portfolio of brands, has announced the opening of the Cambria Hotel Orlando Universal Blvd. The new hotel joins another Cambria property in Orlando, the Cambria Hotel Orlando Airport. The hotel features 118 rooms, multi-purpose indoor and outdoor spaces (including a rooftop lounge and rooftop pool), two restaurants, fitness and business centers, meeting spaces and a 3,650-square-foot event space. The hotel was developed by Supreme International Hotels Inc. Presently, more than 65 Cambria hotels are open in the U.S., and 70 more are in the pipeline.

IHG SIGNS 11TH INTERCONTINENTAL IN JAPAN: IHG Hotels & Resorts has signed an agreement with AXA Life Insurance Co. to open InterContinental Sapporo in Japan in late 2025. This will be IHG’s fifth property in Hokkaido, its first in Sapporo City and the 11th InterContinental-branded hotel in Japan. As announced by AXA, the hotel will be housed on the ninth through 14th floors of a new building within the AXA Sapporo Nakajima Park Project. The 149-room hotel will offer two dining outlets, a lounge, a bar, a function room, a gym and an indoor pool. The hotel will also include a high-end residence-like offering, with views of the Nakajima Park and Toyohira River. The hotel’s front lobby will have a water feature, the library lounge will include a fireplace and the lounge area will be surrounded by greenery. Currently, IHG operates 44 hotels under six brands in Japan and plans to open eight more hotels in the future.

HILTON DEBUTS IN TUNISIA: Hilton has announced its launch in Tunisia with the opening of the Hilton Skanes Monastir Beach Resort located in Monastir. The hotel has 346 rooms and suites with balconies with sea or pool views and offers panoramic Mediterranean views. The hotel includes four outdoor swimming pools, a seawater indoor heated pool, a games room, a kids and teens club, several dining venues, a spa, a fitness center and 1,100 square meters of conference space. Hilton Skanes Monastir Beach Resort is Hilton’s first property in Tunisia, with three more currently in development.

HYATT ADDS ZOËTRY IN GREECE: Hyatt Hotels Corp. has announced that a Hyatt affiliate has entered into a management agreement with AF Partners to open Zoëtry Halkidiki, a new boutique, all-inclusive resort in Halkidiki, Greece. The luxury resort will open in 2024 and will grow Hyatt’s luxury brand growth in Europe. The resort will feature 105 rooms and suites with swim-out options. Located on a cliffside, the property will offer views of Mount Olympus and the surrounding Aegean Sea’s waters, a panoramic lift from the beach to the resort, spa, gym, beachfront pool, two gourmet restaurants, one buffet and three bars and lounges. The opening of Zoëtry Halkidiki will strengthen Hyatt’s brand presence in Greece, which includes Grand Hyatt Athens, Hyatt Regency Thessaloniki, AluaSoul Zakynthos, the recently opened Dreams Corfu Resort & Spa and Magma Resort Santorini.

BWH DEBUTS AIDEN IN SAN ANTONIO, TEXAS: BWH Hotels has opened its latest Aiden-branded hotel in San Antonio, Texas. Aiden by Best Western San Antonio Riverwalk is an all-suites hotel with 79 luxury suites. The hotel includes a lobby café, cocktail bar, fitness center, business center and banqueting facilities. The hotel is located near the Riverwalk and steps away from St. Paul’s Square.
