PITTSBURGH The former Pittsburgh Hilton will become a Wyndham Grand hotel, Wyndham Hotels and Resorts confirms.
Hilton Hotels & Resorts removed its flag from the 712-key property two weeks ago due to undisclosed violations of its franchise agreement. The hotel, owned by Shubh Hotels Pittsburgh LLC, filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection a few days later.
According to bankruptcy court documents, Shubh has approximately US$10 million to US$50 million in assets but US$50 million to US$100 million in debts.
Dr. Kiran Patel, a Florida physician, has proposed buying 89% of the hotel as part of its bankruptcy reorganization. Patel would acquire the remaining 11% stake over three years.
As part of that proposed deal, Wyndham Hotels & Resorts would invest US$1 million to upgrade the spa and market the hotel as a Wyndham Grand property.
“We are incredibly excited at the prospect of adding a prominent, landmark hotel to the Wyndham Hotels and Resorts brand and to our premier Wyndham Grand collection, especially in a key market like Pittsburgh,” says Jeff Wagoner, president of Wyndham Hotels and Resorts. “We look forward to the opportunity to provide visitors with the personalized services and upscale style that has become a hallmark of the Wyndham brand.”
