Wyndham deal to add 46 U.S. hotels

Wyndham Hotel Group and American Hotel Income Properties REIT Inc. announced an agreement to convert 44 hotels across the U.S. to three Wyndham brands. The deal also includes an acquisition of two hotels by AHIP that will join the Wyndham portfolio as Days Inn and another, unnamed Wyndham brand.

The other hotels, currently operating under the Oak Tree Inn brand, will be rebranded as Baymont Inn & Suites (14 hotels), Travelodge (28 hotels) and Super 8 (two hotels) brands, all by the end of this year, according to the company. The announcement was made at the Lodging Conference in Phoenix, Arizona.

The hotels will continue to be managed by One Lodging Management Inc., AHIP’s external hotel manager, a wholly owned subsidiary of O’Neill Hotels & Resorts Ltd.

The hotels will be located near Nashville, Tennessee; Kansas City, Kansas; Jefferson City, Missouri; Lincoln, Nebraska; and Buffalo, New York.

Last month, Wyndham Hotel Group closed on its acquisition of AmericInn, a midscale brand with 200 hotels, mostly in the Midwest. AHIP owns 114 hotels in a portfolio of select-service hotels in larger secondary markets. It operates brands affiliated with Marriott, Hilton, IHG, Wyndham and Choice Hotels.
