Wyndham, Choice divvy up former Jameson Inns

Wyndham Hotel Group and Choice Hotels International both announced on Monday deals to rebrand portions of the Jameson Inns portfolio.

Wyndham Hotel Group, part of Wyndham Worldwide Corp., Parsippany, New Jersey, has rebranded 56 properties throughout the mid-Atlantic and southeast corridor of the U.S. with under 49 Baymont Inn & Suites, one Days Inn and six Howard Johnson franchises. Choice Hotels International, Silver Spring, Maryland, will rebrand 46 hotels located in the U.S. Midwest and South under 42 Quality Inn, two Comfort Inn and two Econo Lodge franchises, in Choice Hotels’ largest single conversion transaction, excluding brand acquisitions.

“This is a significant addition of hotels to our system and a true testament to the strength of our brands,” said Steve Joyce, president and CEO of Choice Hotels International.

The hotels will be managed by Channel Point, a wholly owned and operated subsidiary of Aimbridge Hospitality, Plano, Texas.

“We are proud to welcome these 56 hotels and 3,638 rooms to our growing Wyndham Hotel Group portfolio,” said Eric Danziger, Wyndham Hotel Group president and CEO.

In January 2012, an investment vehicle managed by affiliates of Colony Capital, Santa Monica, California, including Colony Financial Inc., assumed ownership of the portfolio of hotels. In addition, a fund affiliated with the principals of Aimbridge Hospitality and Argonaut Private Equity acquired a minority economic stake in the hotel portfolio.
