Workers at 4 Starwood hotels in Honolulu authorize strike

HONOLULU Workers at four Starwood Hotels & Resorts-managed properties in Honolulu have authorized strikes, voting 97% in favor of a labor action.

Unite Here Local 5, which represents the workers, and Starwood have not negotiated since December, even though contracts for about 2,200 employees expired last June.

The hotels are Sheraton Waikiki, The Westin Moana Surfrider, The Royal Hawaiian and Sheraton Princess Kaiulani. All four hotels are owned by Kyo-Ya Co. Ltd.
