The Pierre, a Taj Hotel, in New York City recently re-opened its iconic Rotunda as a culinary space. Re-designed by architect Daniel Romualdez, the Rotunda previously served as an event space and features its original murals painted by American artist Edward Melcarth in 1967.
Romualdez has designed several apartments at The Pierre and accepted this project because of his “personal connection to the hotel.” Updates include new furniture and décor inspired by the Rotunda’s rich color palette as well as a dramatic lighting system designed to cast “theatrical shadows and setting the tone for the timiate and lively gatherings.”
“From the moment I arrived in New York, The Pierre has always held a very special spot in my heart,” Romualdez said. “To bring one of the most cherished and iconic spaces in the city back to life is an honor.”
