Rosewood Hotels & Resorts will open Rosewood London in October 2013.
The company is currently pursuing a US$130 million renovation of a building constructed in 1914 to serve as the headquarters of the Pearl Assurance Company.
The hotel will have 262 guestrooms and 44 suites with the feel of a stylish home. New York-based Tony Chi and Associates are working on the accommodations, public areas and event spaces.
The six-bedroom Manor House Suite will be accessible via a private elevator and a private street entrance; this suite will also have its own postcode. The new Garden House Suite will have a garden terrace with skyline views. Another suite, the Chancery House Suite, will be a duplex.
The building’s original seven-story Pavonazzo marble staircase is being preserved, as is the carriageway entrance to the arrival courtyard, the façade, and mahogany on the interior. The lobby will feature restored original marble columns with a new stone and mosaic floor.
Martin Brudnizki designed the restaurant, its outdoor terrace, and the hotel’s bar. One of the two private dining rooms will have a show kitchen. In addition, Rosewood London will have a Sense spa, a fitness suite, and 11 event spaces for up to 435 guests; some event rooms will have original features like French walnut- or Cuban mahogany-paneled fireplaces.
