What’s Hot: Prince de Galles completes restoration in Paris

Prince de Galles, a Luxury Collection Hotel, Paris, has reopened after two years of restoration work.

The Art Deco property, originally designed by André Arfvidson, opened in 1928. This time around, French designers Pierre-Yves Rochon and Bruno Borrione led the project in collaboration with ERTIM Architectes SA.

The 115 guestrooms and 44 suites now feature bespoke Art Deco furniture, with furnishings in Macassar ebony and Saint Laurent marble floors with inlaid mosaics. The hotel’s 23 Mosaic and 18 Macassar suites have floors of geometrically patterned, black Saint Laurent marble and furnishings that include large ebony desks and sycamore dressing rooms. The carpeting draws inspiration from the mosaic scrolls that surround the hotel’s courtyard. The décor in the two royal suites includes black and gold accents, dark marble, leopard-print armchairs and lacquered furniture. The Gold Suite, meanwhile, has a gold-leaf mural by Manuela Paul-Cavallier over the headboard; the Sapphire Suite has a palette of beige and blue and an intimate living room.

The 2,600-sq-ft (242-sq-m) Parisian Apartment spans two stories (linked by an Art Deco-inspired spiral staircase) and comprises two bedrooms, two living rooms, a dining room and a kitchen. The suite’s terrace offers almost 1,000 sq ft (93 sq m) of outdoor space.

Rochon designed the public areas in the style of an intimate salon, with black marble, Macassar ebony, 1920s-inspired textiles and armchairs, and a Delisle chandelier in the lobby.

Borrione teamed up with Executive Chef Stéphanie Le Quellec to design La Scène restaurant, Les Heures bar, and the Patio. La Scène has an open kitchen and chef’s table with a décor that contrasts white marble and palissandre ebony. Les Heures serves cocktails that pay homage to the 1920s, while the Patio features Art Deco mosaics.

Rochon also designed Prince de Galles’ event space, which can host up to 70 guests, a fitness center, and a Wellness Suite by Olivier Lecocq with a hammam.
