What’s Hot: Hilton London Metropole transforming lobby

Hilton London Metropole has completed the first phase of a £6 million (US$9.3 million) lobby renovation.

The refurbishment, designed by Aukett Fitzroy Robinson, will make the property the first in the U.K. to have the Hilton Hotels & Resorts brand’s new lobby design.

The first phase focused on a new double-height EDG Bar & Lounge. The space has a palette of muted grays with yellow accents. Overhead, 10 bespoke British-made light fixtures feature vanilla leather and fabric. Behind the bar, colors reflecting day and night shine through cut-out sections.

The Whisky Lounge, which seats 22, has black and mauve-gray furniture with accents in dark cyan and teal. Suspended decanters form the lighting in the Whisky Lounge.

Phase two, set for an August completion date, will modernize the exterior of the entrance, create a new entrance on Harbet Road, and add pod-style desks, five additional bedrooms, and a 60% increase in lobby floor space. Meeting rooms on the mezzanine level are also being refurbished; a new meeting room is being added, and crews are creating an octagonal meeting room with floor-to-ceiling windows on six sides.
