It was 2017 at ALIS when late Marriott International CEO Arne Sorenson introduced a room concept for the eco-conscious Element by Westin brand – studios for small groups on the corners of multiple guest room floors. It was forward thinking at the time and today a perfect option for people who now work from home or the road but need to come together for team bonding or small meetings. It is also a great option for leisure for long-overdue extended family or friend gatherings.

Sorenson’s glimpse into what’s next is now a reality at multiple properties. Studio Commons was first beta-tested at Elements in Scottsdale, Arizona, and Boulder, Colorado, but has recently expanded to Element Moab in Utah; Element Nashville Vanderbilt West End in Tennessee; Element Atlanta Buckhead in Georgia; Element St. Louis Midtown in Missouri; and Element Orlando Universal Blvd. in Florida.
Studio Commons are anchored by four private guest rooms, which surround a great room with a kitchen, living room area and meeting tables. Communal spaces range from 600 to 650 square feet, while each of the four adjacent guest rooms range from 250 to 280 square feet.
