What’s Hot: Coppola’s La Lancha, Guatemala

The Family Coppola Resorts unveiled renovations to La Lancha, its Guatemalan retreat along the Lago Peten Itza.

The renovations, which were introduced in late March, include larger suite options and a new dock on the shore of Lago Peten Itza that has doubled in size. Lake view rooms have doubled in size and been converted to suites featuring a master bedroom and full bath, separate living room with sleeper sofa and wet bar, a second half bathroom and a covered deck with hammock and chairs.

The property’s new rainforest junior suites feature a king-size bed, living area with a sleeper sofa, full bathroom with shower and dual shower heads, and a wooden deck with chairs and hammocks.

All suites have been outfitted with an eclectic assortment of local woods, including mahogany, palo blanco (white mahogany) and manchiche, which has been certified as a sustainable wood source in the Peten area. The rooms also incorporate indigenous textiles.

The 10-room resort is an hour and a half away from the Belize border and a 45-minute drive from the Mayan ruins of Tikal.
