Opening earlier this week at the iconic Bernardus Lodge & Spa in Carmel Valley, California, the new villas and suites aim to “raise the bar in luxury hospitality.” Designed by AXIS Architecture and Arcsine, the accommodations are designed to be “ranch chic” with a strong indoor/outdoor aesthetic.

The new 14 villas and suites include alfresco fire pits, hammered copper free-standing soaking tubs, wet rooms with wall and rain showers, radiant heat floors, vaulted ceilings and double-sided fireplaces.

Designed for groups, the two-bedroom Villa Carmelo and Villa Sol feature walnut dining tables, marble wet bars with antique mirrors and two alfresco fire pits.

As part of the redesign, Bernardus Lodge & Spa is also unveiled a series of butler services with a specific focus on luxury baths, bocce, yoga and family or romantic movie nights.
