Viceroy Hotels has expanded into Africa with the opening of three safari lodges in Zambia and Botswana. The properties include Thorntree River Lodge in Mosi-oa-Tunya National Park, Lolebezi in Lower Zambezi National Park, both in Zambia, and AtzarĂł Okavango Camp in the Okavango Delta, Botswana. Each lodge is managed by luxury safari operator African Bush Camps and features accommodations and experiences tailored to the surrounding environment.
Thorntree River Lodge is located on the banks of the Zambezi River in Mosi-oa-Tunya National Park, providing access to Victoria Falls. Guests can participate in walking safaris to track rhinos, sunrise and sunset river cruises, and guided tours of the falls. Accommodations include suites with private plunge pools, a spa, a swimming pool, and a library.
Lolebezi occupies five hectares of protected riverfront in Zambia’s Lower Zambezi region. Guests can join walking safaris, canoe trips, and boat cruises to observe wildlife, including elephants, leopards, and diverse bird species. The property offers air-conditioned suites with private plunge pools, an open-air cinema, and a yoga deck. It is designed for both intimate stays and family visits.
Atzaró Okavango Camp sits in Botswana’s UNESCO World Heritage-listed Okavango Delta. Guests can take walking safaris, ride traditional mokoro canoes, and join morning, afternoon, and night game drives. Accommodations include suites with private plunge pools, an elevated viewing deck, a swimming pool, a wellness spa, and a yoga deck.
The lodges aim to provide guests with encounters with local culture, wildlife, and landscapes while maintaining contemporary design. The properties combine modern amenities with experiences reflecting each location’s natural setting.
“Expanding into Africa is a defining milestone in Viceroy’s continued global growth,” said Arash Azarbarzin, CEO of Viceroy Hotels & Residences. “Like all Viceroy Hotels, each African lodge is a gateway that connects you to the essence of the destination, its people, landscape, and culture. We’re inviting travelers to discover Africa in a way that truly moves them, where every moment offers depth, beauty, and a sense of wonder.”
The new lodges bring Viceroy Hotels’ portfolio to Africa, offering travelers access to Zambia and Botswana’s most notable landscapes while maintaining consistent service standards across the brand.
