Unlisted Collection acquires London hotel

Unlisted Collection has acquired out of administration the 15-room St. John Hotel and Restaurant, located in London’s Leicester Square.

The leasehold interest in One Leicester Street was acquired above a guide price of £1.1 million (US$1.7 million), according to property adviser Christie + Co. One Leicester Street, one of a chain of businesses operated under the St John banner by Fergus Henderson and Trevor Gulliver, is a boutique hotel and restaurant. It was sold on behalf of the administrators of St John Chinatown Ltd. at RSM Tenon.

Unlisted Collection, Singapore, led by Loh Lik Peng, has an existing portfolio of six boutique hotels and six restaurants in Singapore, Shanghai and London. The London set comprises 196 Bishopsgate and the Town Hall Hotel in London’s East End.

Loh Lik said in a press release that he looks forward to continuing the work of Henderson and Gulliver. “Unlisted Collection is a list of properties that are out of the norm,” he said. “The hotels are set within sensitively restored heritage listed buildings that are re-adapted into radical, cutting edge lifestyle concepts that culminate into an unforgettable experience for our guests. Henderson’s vision mirrored ours; and the new addition to the collection is welcomed.”

None of Henderson’s and Gulliver’s other businesses, which include the Smithfield Bar and Restaurant and Bread & Wine Spitalfields, are affected by the administration.
