Under Canvas White Mountains to open in New Hampshire next June

Under Canvas White Mountains is set to open in June 2026. This will be the brand’s second location in New England and its first in New Hampshire. The property is located on 86 acres with views of Mount Washington and the Presidential Range, surrounded by meadows, forests and orchards.

“With the launch of Under Canvas White Mountains, we’re deepening our presence in the Northeast and expanding access to some of the region’s most iconic outdoor destinations,” said Matt Gaghen, CEO of Under Canvas. “The White Mountains have long been a beloved road trip destination for East Coast travelers, and this location allows us to offer an exceptional upscale base camp experience within easy reach of major metro markets, including Boston and New York City. From summit views to scenic drives and endless trails, this camp is a gateway to everything that makes New England’s natural beauty so unforgettable.”

In 2024, Under Canvas and Hyatt Hotels Corp. announced an alliance that allows World of Hyatt members the ability to earn and redeem points at Under Canvas properties, which currently includes 14 locations.

The camp offers safari-inspired canvas tents with West Elm furnishings and amenities. Each tent has a private deck with forest or agricultural views, an ensuite bathroom with pull-chain shower, sink and toilet, a king-size bed, linens, bedside lanterns, a wood-burning stove, and USB battery packs. Tent types include the Stargazer Tent with a sky-viewing window, a Suite Tent, and the Mount Washington Suite, which connects two tents by a private deck and outdoor lounge.

Guests can access White Mountain National Forest and nearby attractions including Franconia Notch State Park, the Kancamagus Highway and Mount Washington Cog Railway. Local towns such as Littleton, Bethlehem and Lancaster are within a short drive. Activities include hiking, boating, mountain biking, road and gravel biking, and fall foliage viewing. Onsite, the camp offers café-style dining using local ingredients, programming such as live music, yoga, and outdoor games, all centered around communal fire pits. A Guest Experience Coordinator assists with planning guided activities.

Under Canvas operates with a Mindful Approach to sustainability and minimal land disturbance. The camps are designed to maximize open space and follow natural topography. Showers and toilets are low-flow and battery packs are provided for charging. Wi-Fi is not available for guest use and lighting is minimized to protect the night sky. Under Canvas is recognized as the first operator of DarkSky-certified resorts.
