Authorities in Kansas are investigating an accident at a Tyson Foods Inc. plant in Finney County that resulted in the death of a maintenance worker early Monday, the company confirmed.
The employee was doing maintenance on the harvest assembly line in the Harvest Department when he reportedly was pulled up by a harness against a takeaway belt. Another worker was able to cut the worker, identified as Kendrick Gregory, free from the belt, but he was not breathing before being transported to a local hospital, where he died, according to KSN News.
A Tyson spokesperson told Meatingplace in an email that the company is “deeply saddened by the loss of one of our team members,” adding that the company is “working with local authorities to investigate what happened and we’ve also notified the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA).”
