The relaunch of an historic icon: Hotel Viking in Newport, R.I.

Hotel Viking in Newport, R.I., is now accepting reservations ahead of its May 2026 reopening. The 1920s-era property is returning following a comprehensive renovation timed to its 100th anniversary.

The refurbishment was led by ownership group KHP Capital Partners in collaboration with Pivot, the lifestyle division of Davidson Hospitality Group, and interior design firm Beleco. The project preserves original architectural details while updating interiors throughout the property, including the front desk, which will display the hotel’s original 1926 room key cabinet.

“As we enter the hotel’s 100th anniversary, we are dedicated to honoring the role Hotel Viking has long played in Newport’s history,” said Ben Rowe, CEO and managing partner of KHP Capital Partners. “This next chapter will pay proper homage to the property’s legacy, with the ultimate goal of cultivating a space where locals and travelers alike can gather, connect, and feel at home.”

The hotel features 208 guestrooms and suites with custom furnishings and residential-style interiors.

Culinary Program

A new culinary program is led by Rhode Island native and two-time James Beard Award nominee Chef Robert Andreozzi, alongside beverage director Jesse Hedberg, a current nominee for Outstanding Professional in Cocktail Service. Four dining concepts will debut with the reopening: Pescadou, a Mediterranean-influenced signature restaurant; Cap Club, a coastal bar with panoramic views; Skoal Room, a martini-focused cocktail lounge; and Tuck Shop, a daily café and market.

Spa, Events and Location

The renovated Spa Fjör offers individualized treatments, a fitness center, an indoor pool, infrared sauna and a Himalayan sea salt wall. For events, the hotel provides more than 13,000 square feet of flexible space, including the Viking Ballroom, which accommodates up to 400 guests, and the restored Kay Chapel, dating to 1859, which seats up to 200.

The property sits within walking distance of Newport Harbor, the International Tennis Hall of Fame, Cliff Walk and the city’s Gilded Age mansions.
