Summit REIT converts 5 Comfort-flagged hotels to AmericInn

SIOUX FALLS, SOUTH DAKOTA Summit Hotel Properties has converted five of its former Comfort Inn and Comfort Suites hotels to the midscale AmericInn brand, following their flag terminations last month by Choice Hotels International.

The franchised hotels, all managed by Interstate Hotels & Resorts, are located in Salina, Kansas; Missoula, Montana; Twin Falls, Idaho; Fort Smith, Arkansas; and Lakewood, Colorado. They are part of a group of 11 Summit-owned properties whose flags were terminated by Choice due to unspecified contractual breaches.

“We are very pleased to announce this significant new growth of the AmericInn brand as part of our continuing national expansion strategy,” sys Paul Kirwin, president and CEO of AmericInn. “Partnering with experienced developers and operators like Summit Hotel Properties and Interstate Hotels & Resorts further strengthens the value of the AmericInn brand, reinforcing our commitment to franchisees and offering our guests new locations  across the country.”

South Dakota-based Summit selected AmericInn based on the strong value proposition of the brand, its scale and its commitment to growing RevPAR, says Dan Hansen, President and CEO of the REIT. “We had several viable franchises to choose from, and are very pleased to be partnering with such a well-respected franchisor that is committed to growth and adding value,” Hansen says. “We look forward to generating new levels of success for these properties through this partnership.”

The midscale AmericInn brand, controlled by Minnesota-based Northcott Hospitality International LLC, has more than 250 hotels open or under development across 31 U.S. states.
