UDAIPUR, INDIA Sheraton Hotels & Resorts has signed an agreement with Rockwood Hotels & Resorts Ltd. to launch the Sheraton brand in Udaipur.
The Rockwood Palace Resort and Spa has been rebranded as Sheraton Udaipur Palace Resort & Spa, becoming the first Sheraton hotel in India to be managed by Starwood Hotels & Resorts, with five more to follow in next three years in Bengaluru, Visakhapatnam, Chandigarh, Mysore and Amritsar.
India is a key focus of Starwood’s expansion efforts, with plans to grow its portfolio in India by 60% by 2013. The Sheraton brand debuted in Mumbai in 1973, and Starwood has since grown its India portfolio to 26 hotels under its Westin, Sheraton, Four Points by Sheraton, The Luxury Collection and Le Méridien brands, making Starwood the largest upper-upscale and luxury international hotel operator in the country.
The 240-key Sheraton Udaipur Palace Resort & Spa is located on the banks of Fateh Sagar Lake. Located three kilometers west of the city center, Sheraton Udaipur is close to many of this historic city’s cultural, historic and natural attractions.
