BAKU, AZERBAIJAN Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide has signed an agreement with Silk Way Airlines LLC to open a Sheraton-flagged hotel in Baku, marking the company’s debut in Azerbaijan.
The 207-key Sheraton Baku Airport Hotel, expected to open this fall, will be located directly in front of Heydar Aliyev International Airport. The hotel will be the only branded accommodation option in the vicinity of the airport and will feature dining, conference and leisure facilities, including signature Sheraton amenities like Link@Sheraton Experienced with Microsoft.
“As the country continues to grow economically, Heydar Aliyev International Airport has become more of a focus because it provides travelers with their very first impression of the country,” says Jaouad Dbila, vice chairman of Silk Way Holding. “We believe that our partnership with a globally recognized company such as Starwood Hotels & Resorts will have a great impact on the development of hospitality in Azerbaijan going forward.”
Starwood operates 72 hotels in East Central Europe, including three hotels in Moscow and two in the Republic of Georgia, where the company opened Sheraton Batumi last year.
