Sonesta has added 13 hotels in the first half of the year. The new additions add more than 1,000 rooms to the New, Mass.-based hotel company’s global portfolio.
The 13 new hotels that joined Sonesta’s portfolio include (in order of opening):

- Americas Best Value Inn Laurel – Laurel, Md.
- Grand Z Hotel Casino by Red Lion Hotels – Central City, Colo.
- Signature Inn Houston Galleria – Houston, Texas
- Americas Best Value Inn Carlisle – Carlisle, Pa.
- Red Lion Inn & Suites Liberty – Liberty, Mo.
- Red Lion Inn & Suites Gretna – Gretna, Neb.
- Hotel 11, MOD a Sonesta Collection – Calgary, Ontario
- Z Ocean Hotel, Classico a Sonesta Collection – Miami
- Americas Best Value Inn Lafayette – Lafayette, La.
- Red Lion Inn & Suites Philadelphia – Philadelphia
- The Nautilus Sonesta Miami Beach – Miami
- Sonesta Essential Vacaville – Vacaville, Calif.
The company’s progress in H1 2023 demonstrates the success in expanding several brands and was driven by robust owner relationships and the ability to meet consumer demands, Sonesta’s Executive VP and President of Franchise & Development Keith Pierce said.
For the rest of the year, the company aims to continue its success with more growth opportunities through its two new soft brands, a fast and seamless conversion and signings process and maintaining good communication channels with the owner community.

In 2021, Sonesta introduced Sonesta Franchising in the U.S., introducing a new platform of franchise services, franchise support and hotel operations. Since then, Sonesta has registered strong growth, with the recent launch of five brands — The James, Sonesta Essential and Royal Sonesta and two soft brands: Classico and MOD.
Sonesta currently has 17 brands, offering developers and owners a range of offerings in the upper upscale, lifestyle, upscale, midscale, extended-stay and economy sectors.
According to STR, Sonesta is presently the eighth-largest hotel company in the U.S. The company has 1,200 properties totaling 100,000 rooms across eight countries.
