Development company The Related Group and sbe announced on Wednesday that SLS Brickell, the first SLS Hotel & Residences, will debut in Miami’s Brickell district in 2015.
SLS Brickell is slated to break ground mid-2013 on 133 SLS hotel rooms and suites, 450 SLS-branded condo residences, and a collection of sbe’s retail, spa and food and beverage concepts. The joint venture will own and operate the hotel and restaurants, and the Los Angeles-based sbe said it expects the property to bring a Lincoln Road style “ground floor” scene to the area. About US$300 million is being invested in the development.
“Our residential community of owners will gain ‘all access’ privileges to the sbe hospitality platform, including our hotels, casinos, restaurants and nightlife destinations in the U.S. and worldwide. This is the ultimate goal of the SLS Residences, to foster a growing virtual family of owners connected by sbe’s award-winning brands,” said Sam Nazarian, sbe Founder, Chairman and CEO. “The addition of SLS branded residences to the sbe Collection is an initiative we’ve been developing since we first launched the SLS Hotels brand, and partnering with The Related Group gives us a tremendous market advantage. Jorge Perez has an impeccable reputation as Florida’s best residential and mixed-use developer. We hope this is the beginning of many ventures together.”
SLS Brickell will be designed by Philippe Starck and feature F&B outlets that Chef José Andrés will program with a mix of existing sbe concepts, Andrés’ ThinkFoodGroup brands and new experiences under development. SLS Brickell will feature 15,000 sq ft (1,393 sq m) of meeting space, a full-service spa, as well as two pools reserved for both hotel guests and residence owners.
