Sleep Inn launches new prototype, focuses on wellness elements

Sleep Inn, the new-construction midscale brand from Rockville, Md.-based Choice Hotels International, Inc., is getting a new look. Known for its nature-inspired design and cost-effective operating model, Sleep Inn offers a relaxed and serene environment.

The brand’s refreshed look comes after the launch of its next-generation prototype, which is scheduled to be completed and rolled out by the end of this year.

“The new look builds on the strong value proposition developers expect from Sleep Inn to maintain the segment’s lowest build and operating costs while honing in on the brand’s inviting, wellness-focused elements that help modern travelers get a great night’s rest. It’s the perfect fit for growth-minded owners looking to seize opportunities in the popular midscale segment with a product proven to appeal to guests’ needs and senses,” said David Pepper, chief development officer, Choice Hotels.

The new prototype was created to be cost-neutral for potential developers and enhanced guests’ likelihood to stay with the brand by an average of 25% in early testing. The new design will continue to feature Sleep Inn’s basic hallmarks — the signature exterior purple tower, nature-inspired design and other signature amenities.

Other amenities at Sleep Inn properties include:

  • More wellness products, like water refill stations and fitness centers, with new equipment. Guests who check-in in the evenings can access the new pilot offering at some properties, the NightFood Cookie, a free, healthy snack. Sleep Inn recently partnered with AllTrails to curate a list of nearby hiking trails at participating hotels.
  • Modernized rooms, including more functional spaces, smart thermostats and light-dimming capabilities, as well as regional artwork, soothing color palettes and linens to appeal to all five senses for a relaxing stay and better sleep.
  • Open lobbies sporting tall windows, which let in more natural light and signature murals, in line with the nature-inspired theme.
  • Improved breakfast spaces and three areas — a game room, TV room and flexible workspace — to cater to guests’ needs.
  • Designated outdoor areas.

The new prototype came more than 13 years after the brand launched the Designed to Dream prototype. All Sleep Inn hotels include complimentary breakfast alternatives, free Wi-Fi, a swimming pool and/or a fitness center.

In November 2022, Sleep Inn was introduced in the EMEA market.

Currently, over 530 Sleep Inn hotels are open or in the pipeline in the U.S.
