Six Senses unveils resort in KSA’s Wadi Safar

Wadi Safar, the giga-project by the Diriyah Gate Development Authority in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, will be home to a Six Senses resort, Six Senses has announced.

Located around 15 minutes northwest of Riyadh and west of Diriyah, Six Senses Wadi Safar will have 80 rooms spanning five clusters atop a hill. The property will offer panoramic views over the valley. Reflecting the region’s culture, the resort will feature Najdi-style architecture.

The resort is slated to open in 2026.

“As the Kingdom evolves and opens to tourism, it is garnering strong interest among international visitors to explore its heritage sites and outstanding natural beauty,” said Neil Jacobs, CEO of Six Senses. “We are excited to be working closely with Diriyah Co. as we align visions and invite guests to explore the Kingdom.”

The resort offers guests complete privacy in their rooms as the guestrooms are secluded. The restaurants, on the other hand, will embrace the community aspect and offer traditional hospitality. The main restaurant will be situated by the pool and will be complemented by a signature restaurant, grill and brew bar.

The resort will be spread over 49 acres. It will include a signature Six Senses Spa, which will have dedicated suites for touch and sight, treatment rooms, a salon, hammam, a gym and studio and a separate yoga studio.

Six Senses Wadi Safar will also offer events space with an outdoor amphitheater and a boutique in the style of an artisan souk.

The Grow With Six Senses activity program will help guests explore activities and experiences, such as mud brick making, traditional Najdi design workshops, pottery, Sadu weaving and the outdoor Cinema Paradiso. Guests can also explore the Earth Lab, which will help guests better understand desert conservation.

The hotel will come up within the 23-square-mile gated community of Wadi Safar, which has been conceived as a lifestyle tourist destination in Saudi Arabia. Aligning with Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030, the community is expected to host flagship international sports, arts, cultural, retail and fashion events.

“Diriyah presents hospitality operators with a unique opportunity – to redefine their guest experience within the context of nearly three hundred years of cultural heritage. From design and location to local cuisine, materials, and customs, Diriyah’s hospitality portfolio is differentiated by an unreplaceable vibrancy and depth of culture,” said Jerry Inzerillo, group CEO of Diriyah Co.

Located within the bigger Al Disah Valley, Wadi Safar is known for its natural landscapes and geological formations. Wadi Safar is also expected to host two other resorts by Aman and Oberoi. The 78-key Aman Wadi Safar will include 34 fully-serviced branded residences and open in 2026, while the Oberoi is expected to feature 60 rooms and 10 branded residences.
