MALE, MALDIVES Shangri-La Hotels & Resorts has purchased the 117-key Holiday Inn Male and will convert the hotel to its upscale Traders Hotels by Shangri-La brand.
Traders Hotel Male will debut later this month, Director of Corporate Communications Maria Kuhn tells HOTELS. The hotel, which debuted late last year, had been owned by Male Hotel Association and managed by IHG.
The purchase price has not been disclosed.
Shangri-La already has a presence in the Maldives, managing a luxury resort at Villingili in Addu Atoll. The company also has government approval to build and operate a separate 100-key hotel in Male.
