Schaerer introduces new inclusive operating concept

Schaerer has launched the inclusive “Easy Access” operating concept, targeted at wheelchair users and individuals with limited dexterity, for seamless self-service coffee preparation.

Whether in hospitals, assisted living facilities, offices or public spaces, Easy Access enables them to intuitively select and customise drinks via clearly labelled buttons on the drip tray. The user-friendly interface of the coffee machine ensures that wheelchair users, elderly people and those with limited dexterity can independently prepare their favourite drinks with full control of the touch display. The “Easy Access” concept is now available worldwide for the Schaerer Coffee Soul 10 and 12. Existing machines can be retrofitted by a service technician.

Operated like the arrow keys on a keyboard, users can navigate left or right through the drink menu, make their selection, personalize their beverage or cancel the process at any time. For the integration of Easy Access, the Schaerer Coffee Soul must be equipped with the automatically adjustable Touchless Outlet. This outlet adapts to the optimal cup height depending on the selected recipe, helping prevent spills and minimizing the risk of burns.

Licia Mussinelli, a front desk employee at Schaerer Zuchwil and a racing wheelchair athlete, commented on the concept: “The coffee machine with Easy Access is extremely simple and straightforward to use. For those of us with high-level paralysis, it’s definitely a game-changer. In daily life, I’m highly dependent on accessibility, so being able to enjoy a coffee independently means freedom.”
