LAS VEGAS Bellagio Resort & Casino will close its famed Fontana Bar overlooking the dancing fountains, replacing it with an ultralounge operated by SBE Entertainment.
SBE, which owns and manages Sahara Hotel & Casino on the north end of the Las Vegas Strip, will bring its Hyde Lounge brand to Bellagio. Construction of Hyde Lounge Bellagio will begin at the end of May, and the 12,000-sq.-ft. indoor and outdoor space will make its debut on New Year’s Eve.
“The move to bring the Hyde Lounge brand to Bellagio underscores the dynamic partnership forged between SBE and MGM Resorts International,” says SBE CEO Sam Nazarian. “Together, we’ve secured one of Vegas’ most prestigious locations, and will usher in a new and definitive chapter in nightlife on the Strip.”
The announcement of Hyde Lounge Bellagio follows a partnership announced in January between MGM Resorts and SBE, owner of five hotels including the hip SLS Hotel at Beverly Hills, to make the companies’ loyalty clubs reciprocal.
SBE has tapped designer Gulla Jonsdottir, of Los Angeles-based G+ Design, to collaborate with Philippe Starck in conceptualizing and executing the vision for Hyde Lounge Bellagio. Jonsdottir’s recent projects include Red O restaurant in Los Angeles and Hollywood nightclubs MyStudio and Roxbury.
Other Hyde Lounge locations are open in Hollywood, downtown Los Angeles and Mammoth Mountain, California. Another outpost is set to open next year in Miami’s South Beach area.
