Rosewood Hotels & Resorts announced on Wednesday that it will open Rosewood London in October following a US$130 million renovation of Chancery Court Hotel, London that it will oversee.
Rosewood Hotels & Resorts, Dallas, Texas, a subsidiary of New World China Land, Hong Kong, said the 306-room hotel, a 1914 Edwardian Age building on High Holborn, will see original features like the carriageway entrance to the arrival courtyard and the grand Pavonazzo marble staircase rising over seven storys within the property retained. Likewise the façade and the interiors’ dark mahogany and rare marble will be carefully preserved while restored original marble columns in the lobby will be complemented by new stone and mosaic flooring.
The hotel will feature 11 event spaces including a ballroom that will accommodate up to 435 guests and separate meetings and special events rooms for groups of 10 to 85. It will also include a Sense spa.
“Rosewood London will be a milestone addition to our portfolio, not only as it is in a major European capital, but because the legacy of the historic building itself is a true representation of our ‘A Sense of Place’ philosophy,” says Radha Arora, president of Rosewood Hotels & Resorts.
