Rosewood Hotels & Resorts is expanding its global reach and strengthening its Caribbean portfolio with its first property in the Dominican Republic. The hotel company has announced plans to open Rosewood Punta Cana in 2029 in partnership with Grupo Puntacana.
Rosewood Punta Cana will feature 78 suites, including overwater villas, along with eight dining venues ranging from a beach grill to a destination bar. Wellness will play a key role, with an Asaya-branded wellness center offering treatments inspired by local traditions and ingredients, a fitness studio, juice bar and a salon. Guests can also enjoy a fully serviced beach, sports facilities, event spaces and a children’s club.
The ultra-luxury resort will be situated on 50 acres of beachfront (which includes 400 meters of untouched beachfront) within the 15,000-acre Puntacana Resort, a master-planned community that includes luxury residences, recreational facilities and retail spaces. Highlights include a PGA Tour championship golf course, a tennis center designed by Oscar de la Renta, an equestrian center and an ecological reserve.
Rosewood Punta Cana will be located just 10 minutes from Punta Cana International Airport, which offers direct flights from major cities in the U.S., Latin America, Canada and Europe.
“The Dominican Republic is a tropical paradise that celebrates the diversity of Caribbean culture,” said Radha Arora, president of Rosewood Hotels & Resorts. “Long renowned for its beautiful beaches, world-class golf courses and high-end residences and resorts, we are eager to bring Rosewood’s unique approach to the island and set a new benchmark for luxury hospitality in the region.”
Rosewood Punta Cana will join the brand’s growing Caribbean portfolio, which includes properties like Rosewood Baha Mar in The Bahamas and Rosewood Little Dix Bay in the British Virgin Islands, as well as upcoming projects in Barbuda and additional destinations in the region. Globally, Rosewood manages 33 luxury hotels, resorts and residences across 21 countries.
Expressing enthusiasm for the partnership, Grupo Puntacana CEO Frank Elias Rainieri Kuret said: “This collaboration represents a commitment to excellence, bringing world-class service and unparalleled experiences to the region. We are proud to work with Rosewood in creating a sanctuary where every detail reflects the essence of sophisticated luxury while embracing the beauty and spirit of our beloved country.”
